Among the various water cups used daily, which ones are made of environmentally friendly materials?

With the increasing awareness of environmental protection among people around the world, countries around the world have begun to implement environmental testing of various product materials, especially Europe, which officially implemented plastic restriction orders on July 3, 2021. So among the water cups people use every day, which materials are environmentally friendly?

When understanding this issue, let us first understand what are environmentally friendly materials? To put it simply, the material will not pollute the environment, that is, it is a “zero pollution, zero formaldehyde” material.

So which of the water cups are zero-pollution and zero-formaldehyde? Is stainless steel considered an environmentally friendly material? Are various plastic materials considered environmentally friendly materials? Are ceramics and glass considered environmentally friendly materials?

Stainless steel is an environmentally friendly material. Although it is made of metal and is smelted from mineral soil and then alloyed, stainless steel can be degraded in nature. Some people say that stainless steel will not rust? The environment where we use stainless steel water cups is a dietary environment. It is indeed difficult for food-grade stainless steel to oxidize and rust in such an environment. However, in the natural environment, various factors will cause stainless steel to oxidize and gradually decompose after many years. Stainless steel will not cause pollution to the environment.

Among various plastic materials, only PLA is currently known to be used in food grade and is an environmentally friendly material. PLA is naturally degradable starch and will not pollute the environment after degradation. Other materials such as PP and AS are not environmentally friendly materials. Firstly, these materials are difficult to degrade. Secondly, substances released during the degradation process will pollute the environment.

Ceramic itself is an environmentally friendly material and is biodegradable. However, ceramic ware that has been processed in various ways, especially after using a large amount of heavy metals, is no longer an environmentally friendly material.

Glass is not an environmentally friendly material. Although glass is harmless to the human body and harmless to the environment after being crushed, its properties make it almost impossible to degrade.
